BRANDON L. ABBOTT
Associate Attorney, Litigation and Transactions

Brandon Abbott joined the firm in 2016. Originally from Carlsbad, CA, the Coachella Valley has been parallel to a second home for Brandon since the 1980’s, as Brandon has had family ties to the La Quinta area since 1983.
Following a successful academic career in both his baccalaureate studies at University of California, Santa Barbara, and at California Western School of Law, Brandon began his law career within Paramount Pictures Corporation’s motion picture legal department. During his employment at Paramount Pictures, Brandon handled a variety of entertainment contract matters including licensing, distribution, marketing, product placement, promotional services, various waivers, writer, consultant, production designer, head of story, and art director agreements. Brandon also conducted a broad range of legal research determining rights to various books, life-stories, scripts, intellectual property, and other aspects of motion picture projects.
During completion of his Juris Doctor degree at California Western School of Law, Brandon clerked at a boutique law firm in Carlsbad, California handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters. Following his time at Paramount Pictures Corporation, Brandon elected to pursue a Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree in Water Resources Law at the University of Pacific – McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA. While working toward his LL.M. in the capital city of California, Brandon completed two separate attorney externships at the United States Army Corps of Engineers and California’s State Water Resources Control Board. At each externship, Brandon gained valuable experience and insights into working with and researching land use matters, water rights and water quality issues, groundwater matters, oil and gas rights, application of the California Environmental Quality Act, and federal land patent and federal authority material. Brandon also assisted in the negotiation and drafting of settlement agreements and conducted legal research within Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
Brandon has handled all aspects of litigation and transactional work. Brandon specializes in real estate, business, construction, water resources, contract, general civil, HOA, and collections law. Brandon resides in La Quinta. During his free time he enjoys working out, hiking, golfing, and going to the pool.
